What we did

We were invited to complete a specialist wallpaper hanging project in a guest bedroom at an old laundry house that was converted into a barn, in a stunning Grade I listed building. Our client was a private homeowner who had previously worked with another decorator but was unhappy with the result and needed a decorator who specialises in high quality products and finishes. We were brought in to put things right. This kind of project is exactly where our experience shines: blending premium finishes with the knowledge and precision required to work on protected and often challenging interior spaces.

How we did it

Listed buildings bring charm – and technical complications. In this case, the wall was heavily undulated and uneven which is common in period properties, but a real challenge when aiming for perfect pattern alignment. Here’s how we approached it:

• Protected floors and furniture with specialist coverings
• Moved and supported a large bed to access the wall safely
• Sealed and sanded the surface to stabilise the base
• Expertly hung Cole & Son wallpaper – known for bold, luxury prints
• Finished surrounding surfaces with Farrow & Ball ‘Dead Flat’ for a modern, ultra-matt look

The result? A flawless feature wall that elevates the entire room…completed in just one day with minimal disruption.
